JONY is looking for a number of volunteers to fill key positions for the first annual Jamaica Open NY Championship on Monday, August 4th 2014 in Brooklyn New York. If you are interested in being apart of this one of a kind golf experience, please view the information below detailing the areas we need to have filled. JONY Volunteer Roles
Admissions
  • Responsible for staffing the Admissions gate
Standard
Bearer
  • Responsible for carrying a standard (with the names and scores for each professional) on the course for an entire round.
  • Physically demanding; volunteers should be at least 16 years old and able to walk 6 holes of golf and carry a standard for an entire round. Some golf knowledge is helpful.
Marshals
  • Marshals ensure fair play among all participants as well as safety for spectators, and are stationed at locations throughout the course.
  • Focus is on the tees, landing areas, greens and spectator crosswalks.
Walking
Scorers
  • Each scorer follows a particular group, marking each stroke and specific statistics.
  • At the end of each hole, these volunteers are responsible for communicating scores to scoring control. Substantial golf knowledge is necessary.
Social
  • Responsible for providing minute by minute JONY Championship updates on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
Hospitality
  • Will act as the concierge in the hospitality areas throughout the golf course on championship day.
  • Must be helpful, courteous, respectful and diplomatic.
